NEET 2017 Last Minute Tips
Most of the students are busy going through their textbooks, referring to prepared notes, studying into the night, and trying to memorise all the formulae. Many students have stopped talking to their friends and watching TV. Is this the right approach for NEET exam? Read below tips to know more!
Know NEET Syllabus and Examination
NEET syllabus is vast. That is why you need to ensure that you know NEET syllabus completely. You also need to know entire chapter-wise break-up of marks. Since the competition is tough, it is essential to go through the important topics thoroughly. Plus you should revise the important topics more than once.
Stay focused on NCERT
The way to NEET goes through NCERT. The paper is largely based on NCERT. NCERT curriculum is entirely based on NEET syllabus and it is suggested by CBSE. You should compare the NEET syllabus with your Board exam syllabus. You don’t need to study the common chapters separately. You should only restrict yourself to NCERT textbooks for your last minute references.
Practice from Previous Years’ Question Papers and Sample Papers
History repeats itself. The questions from previous year question papers are often found in NEET question papers. Sample papers will provide you relevant questions as the latest trends. Remember, ultimately you have to solve 180 questions in 180 minutes. That means on an average you have 1 minute for each question. That is why, solving these papers will help you in time management. While solving these papers note down your strong and weak areas.
Try to improve the weak topics and build expertise in strong ones.

Focus on Important Topics
Here are important topics for NEET 2017 are:
- Physics – Mechanics, Optics, Thermodynamics and Nuclear Physics
- Chemistry – Mole Concept, General Organic Chemistry, Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding, Coordination Chemistry
- Biology– Genetics, Cell Biology, Ecology and Environment, Morphology, Reproduction and Physiology of Plants and Animals, Basics of Biotechnology
Take Care of Negative Marking
I have seen many students tend of guess the answer, if they do not know the answer or do not want to solve the question. This is a risky route to take. For the simple reason, NEET exam has negative marking for wrong answers. I will recommend that if you need to guess the answer, first bring down the option choices to two, only then guess for an answer.
Write down Important Formulae
This one goes without saying. You should memorise all the important formulae. Practice by writing and using them in the questions. You need to revise them as frequently as much as possible. Same goes for the most important diagrams.
No more New topics
At this point of time, do not start any new topic. You will not be able to build expertise now. Rather try to polish whatever you have studied till now.
Relax, Be Calm and Stay Healthy
This is very important because many students tend to slog too much at last minute. That takes toll of health. Remember you are human, not machine. You should take breaks, listen to music, practice yoga, or meditate for 30 minutes. Eat proper food and avoid junk or street food.
